Théo, originally from Tahiti, left his native island to settle in mainland France. It is here that he discovered his passion for board sports, particularly scootering. Today, he enthusiastically explores the many spots offered by the French Riviera. Follow Théo in his adventures and let yourself be carried away by his passion for scootering through his dynamic sessions. @_theoolivier_

Where are you from?
My name is Théo Olivier, I am 22 years old, and I am originally from Tahiti. I grew up in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, more precisely between the cities of Pau and Biarritz. I now live on the French Riviera, in the city of Nice!
What was the trigger for you to start scootering? How long have you been practicing this discipline?
I had the spark when my little brother got his first scooter in 2015. I was completely far from the world of riding, and one day I said to myself: "Why not try?!" And now, I've been practicing this sport for 8 years.
How did you progress?
Thanks to my surroundings. Being surrounded by the right people who lift each other up to give the best of ourselves. I also watched a lot of videos to get inspiration and new trick ideas. Then competitions are really useful for progress!
What is your best advice for those who want to get started with scootering?
Don't rush! At first, you'll be tempted to try impressive tricks without mastering the basics. It's like wanting to start running when you don't even know how to stand. Everything in its own time. Also, don't hesitate to ask for advice! Whether it's for a move, a posture, ... the key is communication with other riders. But above all, the best advice I can give is to ride for yourself and not compare yourself to others; everyone learns at their own pace.
What are your best spots to practice?
My big favorite is the skatepark of Papeete in Tahiti!
In mainland France, if you like street riding, I would say Lyon because it's the capital of riding. It's a real city full of spots! When trying to go from spot A to spot B, you might make a lot of stops because there are so many per square meter. Then, if you want to ride good parks, I recommend the Palais de la Glisse and the Bowl du Prado in Marseille, the Hangar in Nantes, and Gerland in Lyon.
In Europe, there is first Barcelona. It also follows the same principle as the city of Lyon. Barcelona hosts every year the Urban World Series, a competition aiming to crown the world champion in the discipline (Skate, BMX, Rollers, Scooter) in street or park. There is also Corby, a small town in England 2 hours from London. This town has one of the best skateparks in the world to ride: Adrenaline Alley! There you will find foam pits, resi ramps, a huge street and park section, etc.
Finally, in America, a must-visit place for any fan of board sports is Woodward Camp!
