The ready-to-wear brand RVCA was founded in 2001 by Pat M.Tenore, inspired by the culture of Southern California, in other words surf, skate, art, fashion, and jiu jitsu.

The name RVCA, pronounced "RUCA," means "clothing" in Greek, and for him it evokes the balance of opposites, the brand's famous slogan "the balance of opposites" and their constant coexistence. For him, all these words with opposite meanings have significance, and he demonstrates it within his venture, RVCA. This textile brand continuously draws inspiration from and represents this balance of opposites with the world of board sports, surfing and skating, water and asphalt. The brand proudly shows its interest in contemporary art and fashion, for a design style that is clean, good vibes, and lifestyle with a vintage California flair.

RVCA does not define itself as a sports brand, so it appeals as much to sliding enthusiasts, from skateboarding to surfing, as to non-athletes.
