Sure Grip is an American brand pioneering in roller skating, known worldwide for the wide range of products dedicated to quad roller skating, Derby, or Jam/dance. The multitude of products, the brand's expertise, and its enthusiasm in disciplines like Roller Derby make Sure Grip a reference, thanks to its Sure Grip Boxer skates, Sure Grip Rebel, its Sure Grip Avenger plates, or its Sure Grip Titans wheels.

Sure-Grip International, formerly known as Sure Grip Skate Company, was founded in 1936 by John L. Wintz. Sure Grip was first known for its rubber wheels invented for traditional roller skates in 1937. The wheels were made from phenolic, a material widely used at the time in the mechanical industry for all products needing to resist friction. The use of this material for roller wheels revolutionized the roller skate market by replacing slippery wooden wheels. From then on, Sure-Grip became a very fitting name since the brand literally offered safety in sliding or good grip (in English sure grip). Sure Grip wheels were such a success that the brand established itself in the roller industry as one of the main innovative leaders.

In 1945, the first Sure Grip roller skate was manufactured. This first model was far from resembling the current models that are both lightweight and durable. It took years of innovation in design and engineering for Sure Grip to evolve its roller skates. The use of aluminum, titanium, and magnesium allowed Sure Grip to become the leader in research and development of new materials, not only by continuously improving its products but also by offering the public products with the finest quality possible at an always affordable price.

In the mid-70s until the end of the decade, Sure Grip had to face a radical change in the roller industry. Roller skating was finally becoming one of the main leisure activities for Americans. To meet this growing demand, the brand offered for the first time in the history of skating, an outdoor roller skate mounted with a running shoe. Sure Grip called this roller the "Jogger".

The Jogger spread across the country from California to New York and was the success that propelled the Sure Grip brand even higher. This was followed by many successes for the brand such as roller skiing and hockey skates.

In the early 2000s, the resurgence of the success of the 70s with the practice of roller derby once again awakened the creative spirit of the Sure-Grip brand. And more recently, it was in the market of quad racing skates that Surgrip once again demonstrated innovation by offering the new line of racing shoes, the XL series, which has proven itself in the racing skate market and is making its entry into the roller derby market. An experience that earned it the inclusion of a line of skates specially dedicated to Derby and designed by Roller Derby girls for roller derby players. The line is called "Rebel" and obviously lives up to its promises with a shoe made entirely of leather and slightly lower at the back to provide better flexibility.
